The Man in the High Castle

The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick is an alternate history in which the Axis wins the Second World War. The older entry is a plot and interpretation summary whose source was not recorded.

Pete Chvany, cited in those notes from rec.books.phil-k-dick, calls its characters “strong characters with basic moral centers.” His examples are Tagomi freeing Frank, Juliana warning Abendsen, and Childan choosing contemporary work over a lost past. That positive assessment is Chvany’s.

The notes also follow the I Ching through Tagomi and Juliana’s encounters with the hexagram Inner Truth. They raise questions about authenticity, the world of The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, and the different realities in the novel. The old summary does not record a separate personal verdict.
